Shure Aonic 50 Gen 2: versatile headphones with well-stocked connectivity

For the second version of its high-end Bluetooth headset, Shure has not really revolutionized the recipe inaugurated with the Aonic 50. Indeed, the new Aonic 50 Gen 2 is quite sparing in new features. Thus, Shure promises better active noise reduction, without going any further on the subject. The Aonic 50 Gen 2 would also be much more enduring than its predecessor: count 45 hours of operation against 20 hours previously.

Like many manufacturers, Shure is giving in to the current fashion for 3D audio by integrating its own spatial audio technology into its latest product. This function, which can be activated within the ShurePlus Play app, allows you to create a 3D upmix from any stereo source in order to create an immersive listening bubble. However, no indication has been given as to compatibility with content mixed in Dolby Atmos.

Beyond these novelties, the Aonic 50 Gen 2 is strongly reminiscent of its predecessor. The design is unchanged if we omit the black color of the arch and the logo. Always foldable flat, the helmet comes with a new carrying case. Connectivity is still provided: Bluetooth (compatible with almost all codecs on the market: aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, AAC, SBC and LDAC), minijack and USB-C, the latter allowing you to reach 32 bit / 384 kHz quality. The 50mm drivers also sound identical to the previous version.

The Aonic 50 Gen 2 is already available at a price of €399, the same launch price as its predecessor, which is currently found around €200-250.
