In the Rhône, a woman pretended to be a teacher for a week with a CP-CE1 class. In fact, this woman was diagnosed with schizophrenia 10 years ago.
Samantha Avril is not at her first attempt: in 2020 she pretended to be a doctor in Saône-et-Loire. At the start of the 2022 school year, this 38-year-old woman therefore presented herself at a primary school in Taponas to replace a teacher, and she was received. Hired as a contract worker with a class of CP-CE1, she taught children for 6 days.
During the interview with the academic inspector, Samantha Avril presented a fake diploma : a master’s degree from the University of Lyon 1.
The authorities saw nothing but fire. The psychiatric experts are formal, this woman is a “sick mythomaniac”, she was diagnosed with schizophrenia 10 years ago. For his part, his lawyer explains: “She hears voices telling her to help others”. When the rectorate received the criminal record of Samantha Avril, they understood that they had been had and therefore took the necessary measures to keep him away from children and inform the parents.
Parents revolted by this deception
The parents understood that the situation could have turn to tragedy. If some parents have decided to file a complaint, others are waiting for an apology from the academy. The latter spoke on the subject and assured that all selection steps were carried out during the recruitment process. In question therefore: too late arrival of the criminal record. And the parents are not the only ones to file a complaint, the Rhône Academy is also turning against Samantha Avril. The dismissal is in process at the moment but a suspension order has been issued.
For parents, the shock is immense: “Where does that come from? Are we in a TV movie?” , “It could have been a pedophile, a sexual pervert, why not a jihadist or who knows what else” , “How was the recruitment done?” they reacted.
Samantha Avril has already been sentenced to prison, she is now being prosecuted for illegal practice of medicine, involuntary injury and endangering the lives of others. To these lawsuits will be added those against the “fake teacher”.
