Just a few months ago, every product announced in the small world of household appliances promised to be easier to use thanks to home assistants like Google Home or Amazon’s Alexia. We thought the soufflé had died down a little, but some manufacturers still believe in it, including Siemens. Indeed, the German manufacturer announces that its iQ700 hobs can be controlled by voice using Alexa; it will therefore suffice to say “Alexa, set the main focus to 60°C” so that the table itself chooses the appropriate power. Because, more interestingly, the iQ700 EX651HEC1F plate also accommodates a temperature sensor which allows it to modulate the power to maintain constant heat in the containers; this way we avoid overcooked or completely burned food (FryingSensor Pro system).

The Siemens iQ700 EX651HEC1F hob develops a maximum power of 7400 watts on its four inductors. Note that the pair on the left can be combined to create a large cooking surface which can accommodate large or atypically shaped containers such as stewpots or fish bowls. The user has 11 power levels to modify the heat in the dishes. This will undoubtedly be sufficient for everyday use, but the most finicky chefs may prefer plates offering more levels and therefore slightly more precise settings. As is often the case, the power of the inductor is chosen using a sensitive slider.

As we mentioned, the Siemens iQ700 EX651HEC1F hob is compatible with Alexa and therefore can be controlled by voice. Still to make life in the kitchen easier, you can also pair your hob with a smartphone equipped with the Home Connect home application. Everyone will judge the benefit of this, but tech-savvy cooks will undoubtedly appreciate being able to easily transmit the cooking information for a recipe that they have previously chosen in the app.

Finally, the Siemens iQ700 EX651HEC1F is also capable of communicating with a compatible extractor hood. The idea is that the latter adapts its air treatment performance according to the power of the inductors and the heat they release.

The Siemens iQ700 EX651HEC1F hob was launched at €899, but it can be found for less than €600 without much difficulty.
