Sign for the environment – test run: New E-Mercedes for the garbage?

The city of Wolfsberg sets a strong example for the environment. The first e-waste vehicle will be tested until tomorrow Friday. A purchase of the 330 kW eActros is still being considered. Even the trip to the Koralpe is no problem with the 450 hp vehicle. So far, such a garbage truck only drives in Salzburg.

We are thus underscoring our pioneering role in matters of environmental friendliness and clean mobility,” says Mayor Hannes Primus. For a week, until this Friday, the all-electric Mercedes Benz truck, model eActros, will be test driven and put through its paces. “Our drivers were skeptical at first, but now they are all enthusiastic,” says Stadtwerke Managing Director Christian Schimik. Quietest garbage truck in history Since a garbage truck is to be purchased next year anyway, consideration is now being given to taking over the quietest garbage truck in history. “The costs are about the same as for a conventional garbage truck,” says Schimik: “But there are savings in maintenance and operation.” The test run was made possible by Kaposi. Schimik: “The findings will show how the electrification of the vehicle fleet could be advanced.” The only disadvantage: In the city area, the quiet buzzer has to draw attention to itself.
