Silent Hill 2 Remake was a huge disappointment and it’s Konami’s fault

The latest trailer for the Silent Hill 2 remake did not reassure fans of the franchise, and the studio has therefore decided to respond to the criticism. Actually, it’s not his fault.

It wasn’t that long ago that it was thought that the Silent Hill franchise was dead for good. Finally, Konami took the initiative to revive it with several projects. Among them, the famous remake of the second opus, which is one of the most appreciated by players. The last time he showed up was at State of Play on January 31, 2024. The problem is that the trailer that was shown wasn’t to everyone’s taste. Far from there. Bloober Team therefore spoke on the subject, explaining that we should not blame them, because they are as surprised as us.

The Silent Hill 2 remake is worrying, but it’s not Bloober’s fault

The trailer revealed at the PlayStation event focused on combat, which is already a strange choice for a game like Silent Hill 2. That being said, that’s not necessarily what caught fans’ attention. The animations didn’t seem to be up to par, and everything seemed “soft”, too stiff. In short, the community has voiced its fears. In addition, even if we don’t yet have a release date to get our teeth into, we know that the remake has reached its final phase of development. So, are we dealing with a real representation of the gameplay of the overhaul? Obviously, this is not the case.

Bloober Team, which oversees the project, wanted to speak out about the “controversy” surrounding the trailer which has caused a lot of chatter in the cottages. To be more precise, it was Piotr Babieno, the president of the studio, who returned to it during an interview. Our man understands the criticism of these new images well. The firm itself was not satisfied with what it saw. But how is this possible? Well, we are told that it is Konami which manages the marketing part. However, what was shown would in no way reflect the finished product. Obviously it was misunderstanding within the company, which must not be a pleasant situation.

More seriously, we are not responsible for the marketing side. Our partner [Konami] is entirely responsible for this. […] This trailer certainly does not reflect the spirit of the game. When players see the real gameplay, they will see it in a new light.
