During the last PlayStation State of Play, Konami formalized and launched Silent Hill: The Short Messagea first-person psychological horror game free-to-play and exclusive to the PS5. A silent Hill modern, but with music by Akira Yamaoka and a new creature designed by Masahiro Ito.
The designer had not created a monster for silent Hill for 20 years, Konami wanted to mark the occasion by asking fans to vote to officially name this creature. We had the choice between Cherry Blossom Monster, Sakura Creature, Sakura Bodysuit And Sakura Headit is the latter name which obtained the most votes (38.3%). The fans voted, but the fans are not happy.
Yes, many Internet users are outraged by this choice of name, it must be said that the term Cherry Blossom is already present in Silent Hill: The Short Message And Sakura Head looks too much like Pyramid Headiconic monster from Silent Hill 2 reused far too much by Konami. Ironically, Masahiro Ito himself is tired of seeing Pyramid Head with all the sauces in the saga, he who had created him to simply be the antagonist of James Sunderland in the second part of the franchise. Well, there is still a small chance that Sakura Head follow the same path.
As a reminder, Pyramid Head will be present in the remake of Silent Hill 2, expected in 2024 on PC and PS5 and already available for pre-order at €69.99 on Amazon, Cdiscount And there Fnac.
