For a previously unknown cause, a dust explosion occurred on Monday, September 6, at around 2:10 p.m. in a company in the municipality of Engerwitzdorf. A 39-year-old employee filled silos in a warehouse with a powder. There was an explosion in which the Nigerian native of Linz suffered serious injuries.
He was admitted to the Kepler University Hospital. Since there were no other people nearby at the time, no one else was injured. Three fire brigades carried out the extinguishing work over several hours, which turned out to be difficult due to the overheated silo and a glowing nest suspected in it. The investigation into the cause of the explosion is ongoing.
