Simone Ballack admits what was the only good thing for her this year. After the tragic death of her son Emilio in August 2021 and her divorce from Andreas Mecky earlier this year, she is finally doing well again.

It wasn’t an easy year for Simone Ballack, 47, but she explains it like in football: “2023 has[te]two halves: the first half of the year was bad, the second half of the year was very good. I’m happy at the moment.” Her new boyfriend Heiko Grote, 56, has the biggest part in this, reports “Bild”. She has been with the hotelier since August. “He was the good thing about this year, the last two years weren’t like that especially.” At the beginning of the year she separated from her husband Andreas Mecky, 50, and since she suffered the tragic fate of her son in August 2021, everything has been different anyway.

He is her strong student

But then she met Heiko, who supports her and gives her confidence. Even with the worst experience a mother can probably have, the death of her own child, the hotelier is a strong shoulder for her. Her son Emilio had a fatal accident in a quad bike accident in Portugal two years ago.
Simone Ballack: “He supports me and doesn’t put me down. We always step on the gas and look forward. It was bad enough. You then need someone at your side who says: ‘Let’s move on.’ In order not to sink into suffering and to look forward.”

She deals with her fate quite openly

Simone tells “Bild” that she is often approached on the street: “Recently a woman in Kitzbühel simply asked me: ‘How do you deal with the loss?'” This happens to her often, she says. Her recipe is not to let yourself go or pull the blanket over your head, but to keep going. “I also have to make sure that my other two children are doing well.” Simone Ballack explains that this is why she deals with this terrible chapter quite openly: “Some people can’t understand it. I like talking about him, I find keeping quiet much more stressful,” she says.

She will celebrate Christmas Eve alone with her Heiko in Kitzbühel. The children will arrive on December 25th, she reports.
