Simone: the incredible physical transformation of Elsa Zylberstein

She is Simone Veil in the cinema and her preparation was intense. Meeting with Elsa Zylberstein on the occasion of the release of Simone, the journey of the century, the new film by Olivier Dahan, on display this Wednesday.

What is it about ?

The fate of Simone Veil, her childhood, her political struggles, her tragedies. The epic and intimate portrait of a woman with an extraordinary career who has shaken up her time by defending a humanist message that is still burningly topical.

After directing biopics devoted to Edith Piaf (La Môme in 2007) and Grace Kelly (Grace of Monaco in 2014), Olivier Dahan has produced a film devoted to the life of Simone Veil. From her childhood to the end of her life, by reviewing many significant episodes of her career, her positions and fights, Simone, the journey of the century allows you to (re)discover Simone Veil in a different way, in particular by showing aspects least known in his life.

To embody it, Olivier Dahan called on two actresses: Rebecca Marder who plays young Simone Veil, and Elsa Zylberstein who wears the costume for the second part of her life, until the end of her days. Elsa Zylberstein put a lot of effort into this role and this film. It is even the actress who is at the initiative of this cinema project. At the microphone of AlloCiné, she confides in the intense preparation work to achieve this incredible metamorphosis. Check out our video interview above.

Simone, the journey of the century arrives at the cinema this Wednesday, October 12.
