Alex Fiva once again demonstrated his strong form and finished third on the podium at the World Cup in Bakuriani, Georgia. In the final he was only defeated by the Swede David Mobaerg and the German Florian Wilmsmann. For Fiva it was already the fourth podium finish of the season and the 33rd of his career. He had previously come second twice and third once.

With Jonas Lenherr and Ryan Regez, two other Swiss reached the semi-finals. However, both barely got stuck. In the end, Lenherr finished 6th, his teammate was two places behind. For Regez it was the best result this winter after his injury comeback; he had previously missed the quarter-finals in three attempts.

Gantenbein falls in the final

11 athletes were registered for the women’s competition, but only 10 actually started in the quarter-finals; Hannah Schmidt had to miss out. Of the three Swiss women, all reached the semi-finals, but only Talina Gantenbein made it to the big final. Sistine Cousin and Saskja Lack missed it and finished 5th and 6th in the small final.

In the fight for the podium places, Gantenbein was thrown back early. In fourth place, the Swiss woman fell shortly before the finish. It is still unclear whether and how seriously the 25-year-old was injured. The victory went to Marielle Thompson (CAN). She won ahead of Britanny Phelan (CAN) and Marielle Berger Sabbatel (FRA).
