  • Jonas Lenherr triumphs at the Ski Cross World Cup in Nakiska, Canada and celebrates his 5th World Cup victory.
  • Fanny Smith just can’t repeat her podium finish from Saturday’s race and has to settle for 4th place.
  • As in the first race in Nakiska, the women’s winner is Hannah Schmidt (CAN).
  • At the halfway point of the final, there were many signs that Jonas Lenherr would finish second, but the man from Eastern Switzerland turned up the heat again and intercepted the German Florian Wilmsmann shortly before the finish. The 34-year-old celebrated his 5th World Cup victory. Third place went to the Frenchman Youri Duplessis Kergomard.

Alex Fiva, who finished third on the podium on Saturday, confidently won the round of 16 and quarter-finals. In the semi-finals, however, he was unlucky when he collided with the Austrian Tristan Takats in the first corner and fell. In the small final he finished 6th. Gil Martin and Romain Détraz had to give up in the round of 16.

Smith just off the podium

In the women’s category, Fanny Smith made it into the final, as she did with her 3rd place on Saturday. However, she had to settle for 4th place there. First of all, the local Hannah Schmidt was able to repeat her victory from the previous day. Second place went to the Frenchwoman Marielle Berger Sabbatel ahead of Schmidt’s compatriot Brittany Phelan.

Sistine Cousin, who sensationally celebrated her first World Cup victory in San Candido this season, got stuck in the semi-finals. In the small final she came 3rd and thus came 7th. For Margaux Dumont, Talina Gantenbein and Saskja Lack, the quarterfinals were the end of the line.

This is how it continues

Next weekend the ski crossers will be guests in Switzerland. The qualification takes place in St. Moritz on Saturday, followed by the race on Sunday.
