Skoda Enyaq Coupé iV: the Czech electric SUV is getting muscle

4

Skoda adds to its range the Enyaq Coupé iV, a 100% electric SUV with a more muscular line and offering two battery sizes, four power levels and a range of up to 545 km.

After the fashion for SUVs, the time has come for the coupe SUVs. More and more manufacturers are indeed betting on this silhouette offering more dynamism and ultimately sacrificing little practicality. Even better, some even display a more advantageous drag coefficient, which makes it possible to increase performance while reducing consumption, a major issue in the energy transition. Riding this wave, Skoda is therefore unveiling a coupe variant of its 100% electric SUV Enyaq iV.

Common platform

The Enyaq Coupé iV is designed on the modular MEB platform common to the Volkswagen group and used on the ID.4. The coupé is 4.65 m long and 1.87 m wide. Its height is 1.62 m while its wheelbase is 2.76 m. The coupé body is characterized by more athletic lines, reinforced by a front and side skirt that stretches the silhouette. The dynamism of the line is reinforced by rims ranging from 19 to 21 inches depending on the version and, of course, by the line of the roof which slopes gently down to the tailgate. Moreover, the volume of the trunk displays 570 l or 15 l less only than the classic version of the Enyaq.

Note that the Sportline and RS versions have a chassis lowered by 15 mm at the front and 10 mm at the rear. Likewise, a few bodywork and finishing elements set them apart from the rest of the range. The RS version is also the only one to offer the bright green color Mamba Green. Finally, the coupé will be able to receive the Crystal Face grille made up of backlighting based on 130 LEDs and Matrix LED lights.

The cabin is richly equipped as standard with a panoramic roof, dual-zone air conditioning, a leather multifunction steering wheel and the Kessy Go keyless start. The adaptive and predictive cruise control keeps it in the lane, while level 2 autonomous driving, blind spot detection and collision warning are in the manufacturer’s catalog. Over-The-Air updates, a head-up display with augmented reality and a 12-speaker Canton audio system are also included. Note that, according to the new strategy of the Volkswagen group, from the second half of 2022, the Skoda Enyaq Coupé may be enhanced with paid software options after purchase, as is the case for example with activated voice control. a posteriori on the Taigo.

Up to 300 hp

Different traction chains propel the Enyaq Coupé iV. At the entry level, we will find the 60 version based on a motor located on the rear axle developing 182 hp powered by a 62 kWh (gross) battery. Above, the Enyaq Coupé iV 80 offers a 204 hp engine powered by an 82 kWh (gross) battery for an advertised range of 545 km. The manufacturer highlights here a drag coefficient of 0.234 which significantly reduces air resistance. The gain compared to the classic version of the Enyaq is 17 km with equivalent motorization.

The 80x version is based on the same 82 kWh battery, but this time powers two motors (one on each axle) for all-wheel drive to deliver 265 hp and 425 Nm of torque. Finally, the RS version, the first electric Skoda to sport the manufacturer’s sporting emblem, is also based on two electric motors developing 300 hp and powered by the 82 kWh battery. 460 Nm of torque are announced for this version as well as a 0 to 100 km/h shot in 6.5 s. Finally, the manufacturer announces a maximum towing capacity of 1400 kg on the 80x and RS versions.
