At the upcoming turn of the month, Sky will remove two pay-TV channels from its range of programs: From May 1, 2022, subscribers will no longer receive “Kinowelt TV” and “Stingray Classica”. A Sky spokesman told the online magazine DWDL.de that the channel was being thrown out with a change in customer behavior: “Our channel portfolio is strongly geared to the wishes of our customers and is regularly adjusted accordingly.”

You still have time up to and including April 30, 2022 to enjoy cinema films from all over the world in the 24-hour program of Kinowelt TV. After that it’s over. But even without the broadcaster, customers should still be able to enjoy an “outstanding range of films”. In this context, Sky refers to the launch of the Paramount+ streaming service. It was actually planned for the beginning of 2022, but it won’t come until the end of the year. The streaming offer should be available to subscribers of the cinema package at no additional cost, while everyone else can book it if they wish. And even non-Sky customers can subscribe to the service.
Sky left open what those interested in culture would receive concerts, documentaries or ballet performances in the future. For the time being there is probably no substitute for the 24/7 program of Stingray Classica.
