Skydiving – Thalgauerin wrote sports history in Austria

Magdalena Schenner won the overall World Cup in skydiving. “I still can’t really realize it. I didn’t even dream of it,” beamed the Thalgauerin.

A fourth place at the last station in Locarno (Sz) was enough! Magdalena Schenner secured the overall World Cup in skydiving. “I still can’t really realize it. I didn’t even dream of it because it was far from any reality for me,” beamed the 36-year-old, who wrote domestic sports history with her victory. Never before has an Austrian athlete won the overall World Cup in the general class. “That makes the whole thing that little bit cooler,” Schenner grins. For whom this season was a comeback year because she took a baby break last year. And because she’s not a professional but just a hobby jumper, Schenner also has a day job. She works as a sports scientist in a rehabilitation center in Bad Vigaun, and a professional career was never really an option. “I was already 30 years old when it was time to say it. That was just too late for me,” says the HSV Salzburg jumper. How she will continue after the greatest career success is open. Schenner has not yet completed family planning, a second baby could follow. But she will not give up her passion. “My career depends somewhat on child planning. I will continue to jump anyway, the addiction factor is high.”
