Skype is full of new features, we explain everything to you

With its version 8.93, Skype welcomes an anthology of new features, both on PC and on smartphones and tablets.

Among those made to Microsoft’s videoconferencing software, there is in particular the famous natural voice translation which will make international calls much easier to manage.

A new version of Skype on the desktop

Since Microsoft has kindly shared the list of improvements, between those addressing Windows, Mac, Linux and the web version on one side, and Android and iOS devices on the other, let’s start with the first part. There is still a feature common to both versions which is none other than natural voice translation. The idea is to synthesize the voice of a speaker in real time through an AI during a translated video call.

This goes hand in hand with the new and handy Skype Translator feature. If the participants of a call speak different languages, the software will automatically detect the languages ​​and translate them into the language of each interlocutor.

The PC and web version of Skype is also entitled to more cosmetic additions, such as more extensive customization of the parameters of its identifier, but also for the Skype theme which adds… more colors. New version requires, many bug fixes and stability improvements are obviously part of it.

Skype has a new mobile to be used in mobile mode

Regarding the mobile and tablet versions of Skype, we find in this update all the new features made to the PC and web version, but also specific additions to these platforms.

We can notably cite a new news feed present on the mobile application. It is also easier to add contacts through the use of a QR code. Various improvements are also aimed at making video calls more stable on mobile, among other fixes.

However, all these features will not arrive at the same time, but rather gradually, depending on the users or the recommended platform.
