Skyrim predecessor gets remake: 3-hour video shows how beautiful it is

Fans will have to wait a long time for The Elder Scrolls 6. But with a bit of luck there will be new food for all Skyrim fans beforehand. A fan group has come together to implement Oblivion in the current offshoot – a fan remake, so to speak. The developers show how good this already looks in a 3-hour stream.

These are the largest modding projects in the already large Skyrim community: Skyblivion (Oblivion remake) and Skywind (Morrowind remake) are on the road to completion, both are quite advanced. What’s more, you’ve already seen what Skyrim modders and fans create in wonderful Enderal (and if not, play it now!).

Skyblivion is a remake of Oblivion in the Skyrim engine to bring the predecessor to a new generation of players. Since over The modders have been working on this huge project for nine years – and now they show you what Skyblivion looks like now. Spoilers: it turned out pretty damn nice!

In a way 20 minute video imagine the Skyblivion team and what awaits you in the unofficial Oblivion remake. Using The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim’s Creation Engine, they rebuild the entire game, including every single blade of grass and NPC. In addition, Skyblivion is said to be even larger than the original Oblivion – based on official sketches and artwork that Bethesda was unable to implement itself.

Skyblivion: Much more than a remake

The Skyblivion project started nine years ago, although a much smaller team was working on the remake mod back then. A lot has happened since then, as you can see in the video above: The modders involved in the project are not afraid To change and expand Oblivion according to the lore.

During the beautiful autumn forest is embellished and enlarged, also preserved Leyawiin a huge update: the city will be enlarged according to several official artworks from Bethesda, as originally planned. In Skyblivion, Leyawiin will take up more space, allowing ships to cross the river right through the city. There will also be more houses, shops and a division into a poorer and a richer quarter.

According to the countries bordering on Cyrodiil Border crossings as fortresses designed: A transition to Black Marsh, home of the Argonians, or a transition to Elswyer. However, you will probably not be able to cross it – the whole thing is more about immersion in the action.

NPCs, objects, animals, plants and buildings are all renewed using the Creation Engine, so this is indeed a huge remake that already has me wanting to dive back into Oblivion. Unfortunately there isn’t one yet release date the free mod; however, the narrator explains in the video that after all these years there is at least an end in sight.
