Skyrim Remake? It would look like this and it’s just sublime!

Have you ever imagined The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim running on Unreal Engine 5? This is what it could have been, and it’s a slap in the face. It might make you want to restart the game.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is by far one of the most impactful RPGs of the last decade. Players of the era still remember the impact the game had, and it is still felt today. Fans continue to return to Skyrim to hunt dragons and shout “Fus Ro Dah” all the time. Moreover, with the new technologies we know today, we are right to wonder what the title could look like under Unreal Engine 5, for example. Well, we have the answer.

Skyrim under Unreal Engine 5, what would it look like?

Please note, this is not strictly speaking a version of the game that runs under the UE5 3D engine. It might be a little too good to be true. In fact, it’s a user named Leo Torres who invites us to watch his new video presenting the city of Winterhold. It is an iconic location in Skyrim and home to a very famous Mage Academy. Our man really likes this place, and so he wanted to pay homage to it by recreating it in Unreal Engine 5, but there is one particularity to note. This is not the Winterhold we know.

In Skyrim’s history, this city was once a great capital that could rival Solitude, among others. Unfortunately, a series of storms hit, and the damage was catastrophic. Apart from the Academy, everything was ruins and desolation. The place we travel through in the game is only a shadow of what Winterhold was in the past. But then, what did she look like at the time? This is what the Youtuber tried to show us through his video.

Technically, we are not dealing with the real Winterhold described in the Skyrim storyline. At the same time, it would have been a bit complicated to put this together without outside help. Instead, Leo Torres tried to present the city in a less sad, less desolate light, while adding more housing. It’s a pretty clever way of giving us a glimpse of its former glory, and we must admit that the result is rather impressive.

A bright future ahead of the game

This rendering of Winterhold really makes you want to restart Skyrim. But most of you have probably already taken a look at the game. If so, a group of fans have thought of you. A mod is currently being put together, and it will only be released on the Special Edition version of 2016. It bears the name “Apotheosis”, and the little we saw of it was enough to make us salivate. On the other hand, you will have to be patient, since it will not arrive until 2025. As for the story, here is what they explained to us:

You begin your adventure in the Dreamsleeve, a fallen and twisted world, stranded at the end of time. Hear the call of Kyne, goddess of storms and Widow of Shor. Take up your weapons and overcome death’s grip. Or is it your destiny to become a memory, erased and scattered in the winds of time?
