The Swiss women deliver a strong result at the end of the year and three of them are in the top ten. Gisin shines as the third.

The podium

  • 1. Petra Vlhova (SVK) +1: 42.10
  • 2. Katharina Liensberger (AUT) +0.51
  • 3. Michelle Gisin (SUI) +0.68

Michelle Gisin continues to impress despite her difficult preparation and Pfeiffer’s glandular fever. In Lienz, the Engelberg woman was able to celebrate her 2nd podium of the season. After her 3rd place in the giant slalom in Courchevel, she was now eight days later with the same podium classification in the slalom.

At halftime, Gisin, who started with the number 1, was even in second place. The 28-year-old was overtaken by the Austrian Katharina Liensberger in the second round.

At the top, the Slovakian Petra Vlhova had no trouble clinching her third slalom victory this winter in the absence of the corona sick Mikaela Shiffrin and impressed with a perfect run.

The other Swiss women

Wendy Holdener showed a strong 2nd run and was able to make up 5 places. The Schwyzerin (5th) drove very aggressively and at the limit, thus once again proving her consistency in the slalom.

If it works, then it works – that is still the motto at Camille Rast. The 22-year-old delivered another strong result with 7th place and thus made it into the top ten for the third time this season.

Aline Danioth experienced a “perfect” comeback for her: For the first time for over two years and two cruciate ligament tears, she was back in a World Cup race. The Uri found her way around well, made it into the 2nd run and finally placed 25th.

“Today I wanted to enjoy,” said the 23-year-old. “I can do better than that, I know that. But to be back in the points straight away makes me very happy. ” It was difficult to have her emotions under control at the start, said Danioth and fought back tears.

So it goes on

With this race, the year 2021 comes to an end for the female ski racers. The break is short, however, on January 4th they will start a slalom again in Zagreb.
