Slay The Spire gets a sequel arriving in Early Access for 2025

In 2017, Mega Crit hit hard with its very first game. 7 years later, the studio offers a sequel to its roguelite with
Slay the Spire 2. Always thought of as a deckbuilder, always at the top of the Spire, always with the same characters. The project will launch in early access in 2025 on Steam, and already presents some new features. Among them the Necrobinder, but also an extensive bestiary.

For the moment, the trailer doesn’t show much apart from a few snippets of the story and 3 classes. We thus find the Ironclad, the warrior of the group with access to a game based on armor, the Silent, an assassin who can equip himself with deadly poisons, and the Necrobinder, a new addition. On the Steam page, the latter is described as a lich who seeks to bind forgotten corpses. We can therefore expect very atypical gameplay requiring the exploitation of the dead.

As for its construction, however, Slay the Spire 2 still remains very mysterious. The proposition seems similar to that of the first title, chaining together random encounters and events in different areas which conclude with a boss. All by taking the risk, betting on your power, or playing it more defensively. Of course, new mechanics will be there. But we will have to be patient to know exactly what we should fear from this climb.
