Small and cheap – Skoda Epiq: This is the Czech people’s electric car

Skoda is expanding its range of electric cars. A new basic model is intended to significantly reduce the financial barrier to entry. It will be called Epiq.

The 4.10 meter long crossover continues the series of SUV models whose designation ends in “q” like Karoq and Kamiq. A study that has now been unveiled and modernized gives a first look at the design of the series model announced for 2025 Electric version of the classic Skoda radiator grille. The roofline of the five-seater slopes slightly towards the rear, but up to 490 liters of luggage can still fit in the trunk. The cockpit in the study is colorful but also minimalist in design. Instead of analog instruments, there is a small screen, and the infotainment is operated via a central touchscreen. The Czech VW subsidiary does not yet provide specific information about the technology, but promises a range of over 400 kilometers and the suitability for bi-directional charging. In addition, the Epiq is likely to be based on the framework data of the already announced siblings VW ID.2 and Cupra Urban Regel. The prices should start at around 25,000 euros, other competitors include the Jeep Avenger, the upcoming Tesla Model 2 and something larger Smart #1. This year, Skoda also wants to introduce the one class larger Skoda Elroq, which is priced below the so far only E-model Enyaq. Around 40,000 euros are likely to be due.
