Small: where did you see Victoire Du Bois, the toxic mother of heroin?

On the occasion of the release of “Petites”, a small focus on Victoire Du Bois, on the poster of this drama on adolescence and motherhood by Julie Lerat-Gersant.

This week comes out Petites, a drama in which a pregnant teenager finds herself placed in a maternal center by the children’s judge.

This first film directed by Julie Lerat-Gersant allows the actress Victoire Du Bois to find a new role commensurate with her talent: that of the irresponsible but loving mother of the touching heroine played by Pili Groyne.

Born in 1989 to a French pediatrician mother and an American English teacher father, Victoire Du Bois grew up in Corbeil-Essonnes and Nantes. Passionate about comedy, she chose the theater option in high school. She then joined the School of Games and the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art in Paris. At the same time, she passes castings for the cinema.

Victoire begins by appearing furtively in films as different as The Sea at Dawn, Malavita, The Forbidden Room, Mal de Pierres and Call Me by Your Name. Not forgetting the stage, she took part in many plays, such as Louison by Alfred de Musset, The Tartuffe or the Imposter by Molière or Ivanov by Chekhov.

In 2019, Victoire Du Bois’ career took an important turn with the hit Netflix horror series Marianne. She portrays the heroine Emma there, an acerbic young novelist who discovers that the monstrous characters she has created are really coming to life… And in particular Marianne, an old lady who intends to make her live a torture.

That same year, she lends her voice to Gabrielle, whose hero Naoufel falls in love, in the original animated film J’ai perdu mon corps, which receives praise from the French press.

His film roles are gaining in importance. Victoire is thus part of the impressive cast of November by Cédric Jimenez, on the investigation which followed the attacks of November 13, 2015.

But above all, she plays a young woman who attacks, with two other extremists, Denis Ménochet who tries to help a refugee, in the snowy thriller The Survivors.

Also in early 2023, Victoire Du Bois plays the loving but toxic mother of the title character in Petites, which centers on a pregnant teenager. Director Julie Lerat-Gersant explains about her:

“We chose Victoire du Bois (Clo) because she is very fragile, she is always on edge. She is an actress who is constantly on the edge and yet she is very precise.”
