Smoke detector warned her – fire from candle: woman extinguished with cooking pots

A 52-year-old woman was made aware of a fire in her apartment in Brückl by the smoke detector on Saturday evening.

The 52-year-old had lit a candle on a dresser in the kitchen around 8 p.m. Then she went into the bathroom. Suddenly she heard the smoke alarm and had to realize that the candle had probably fallen over and had ignited the drying rack and one of the dining room chairs nearby prevent spreading to other pieces of furniture. Then she alerted the Brückl fire brigade, which ventilated the apartment with 20 emergency services and removed the damaged furniture from the apartment. The 52-year-old had to be taken to the St. Veit hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. The extent of the property damage has not yet been determined. Immediately after the apartment fire, the Brückl volunteer fire brigade had to move out again. A tree had fallen on the B92 Görtschitztaler Straße due to the sleet.
