SNAPCHAT

Using Snapchat Web, you can send photos, videos and messages to your friends and family and make phone calls with them – without your smartphone. That’s how it’s done.

  • Snapchat Web is a way to access Snapchat from your laptop or PC.
  • However, devices with Windows 10 and 11 as well as macOS, tablets and smartphones are not supported.
  • The range of functions has not been shortened compared to the app.

The popular social media platform Snapchat has been offering the option of accessing the service via a web browser for some time. However, there are a few things to consider if you want to use Snapchat Web. We’ll show you how the whole thing works and whether there are any restrictions compared to the app.

Use Snapchat on the web

Snapchat Web is a browser interface that was initially only available to people who subscribed to the Snapchat Plus service in select countries such as the UK in July 2022. The service can now also be accessed in Germany – free of charge.

If you want to access Snapchat Web, all you have to do is go to web.snapchat.com and log in there with your usual login details. You may be asked for an SMS code as part of two-factor authentication. If you log in successfully, you will have access to Snapchat’s web interface with all your friends, chats and Snaps.

No restrictions (anymore) compared to the app

The good news is that when you use Snapchat Web, you will quickly notice that the functionality of the web platform now almost completely matches that of the app. If your laptop or PC has a built-in or additional camera, you can easily take and send snaps. A microphone can also be used to record videos or even make video calls.

At first and second glance, we didn’t miss any functions on Snapchat Web. The platform has a nice, clean interface that even supports dark mode. All filters that can be used in the mobile app when sending snaps and making phone calls are also available in the web version.

You can also create a Bitmoji on the web. Anyway, the basic functionality of Snapchat remains the same in the web version: Snaps sent can only be opened twice, messages in the chat disappear after 24 hours. You can also not take screenshots in the web version without the other person being notified. What cannot be prevented, however, is taking photos of the screen.
