Passengers on Inoui and Intercités trains must now comply with new standards, applied by the SNCF. These new rules, which came into force on February 15, 2024, seem inspired by airlines, imposing on travelers a strict limitation of suitcases under penalty of severe fines. However, this apparent simplicity hides important subtleties. Travelers are warned thata fine of 50 euros, or even 150 euros in the event of a serious offense, will be applied in the event of non-compliance with the rules, particularly in the event of congestion in the corridors or undue occupation of the space reserved for baggage. The SNCF company insists that these new directives do not represent a fundamental change, but rather aim to remind travelers of the rules of comfort and safety. The new dimensions authorized on trains
If you travel by TGV Inoui and Intercités, you can carry two pieces of luggage with maximum dimensions of 70 x 90 x 50 cm, in addition to hand luggage. Special baggage is permitted, but dimensions cannot exceed 90 x 130 cm. As a reminder in OuiGo, baggage was already limited: each ticket only allows one cabin baggage and one hand baggage included, with strictly defined dimensions of 55 x 35 x 25 cm and 36 x 27 x 15 cm. If you need more, you will have to pay 5 euros per additional large piece of luggage. OuiGo Plus travelers benefit from the possibility of adding additional or larger baggage, included in the ticket price.
