Snowpiercer Season 4: First trailer for the grand finale – soon you will see the new episodes of the AMC series

“Snowpiercer” fans have had to be very patient over the last few years. Over two years have passed since season 3 was released and the rights situation surrounding the series made it seem as if season 4 would never come. But now it is clear: US broadcaster AMC is saving the series and has secured all linear and streaming broadcasting rights to all four seasons.

In Germany, the series previously aired on Netflix, but in the US it was a TNT series. And even though season 4 was confirmed and almost finished filming, the series was suddenly canceled and disappeared from streaming services in the US.

The reason was that Warner Bros. Discovery wanted to cancel the series and TNT belongs to Warner. Warner probably had to cut costs quickly and it was cheaper to cancel the series than to broadcast it. The film “Batgirl” suffered a similar fate. But Tomorrow Studios had secured the rights to the series in order to find a new home for the series. And they have now succeeded.

With season 4, “Snowpiercer” can hopefully now find a rounded ending, as it is also the final season.

Snowpiercer Season 4: Start

Season 4 was originally scheduled to be released on AMC and AMC+ in early 2025. But now it is certain that the final season will be released on July 21, 2024 starts.

However, it is still unclear whether the final and fourth season will simply continue on Netflix in Germany, as the first three seasons are currently still available in the Netflix streaming program.

Luckily, you can also subscribe to AMC+ in Germany relatively easily. All you need is a VPN service and a German credit card.

So far there is only a short teaser trailer for the new and final season of “Snowpiercer”. Of course, it doesn’t reveal much. The protagonists are outside the eponymous train and are ambushed.

Snowpiercer Season 4: Plot

Season 3 began with Layton and his inner circle returning to the super train after stealing the engine and disappearing for 6 months. Layton wrested control of Snowpiercer from Mr. Wilford, but he lied to the passengers, telling them he had been to New Eden and that a survivor named Asha was from the Horn of Africa.

Layton’s authority was challenged by his old nemesis Pike, who knew Andre had lied about New Eden. After killing Pike, Layton fell into a coma and, when he came to, realized he had invented New Eden. Meanwhile, Wilford discovered that Melanie was alive, and Snowpiercer launched a rescue mission to get their chief engineer back on board.

Melanie decided that Layton’s plan was dangerous for New Eden, and she publicly exposed his lie. Melanie took control of the train, sparking further conflict between herself, Layton, and Wilford.

Melanie and Andre shared the train and the passengers could decide for themselves whether they wanted to stay on board with Melanie or travel to New Eden with Andre. The two also tricked Wilford and banished him from the train.

The final scene of “Snowpiercer” Season 3 jumps forward three months and shows Melanie launching a rocket into the atmosphere, which could mean that there is another, previously unknown group of human survivors in the world.

In season 4, we will see what happens after the train splits up and which passengers choose whom. We will also find out whether there really are any other survivors.

Snowpiercer Season 4: Cast

It is currently expected that Daveed Diggs (“black-ish”) will return as Layton, Jennifer Connelly as Melanie, Roberto Urbina (“Narcos”) as Javi, Rowan Blanchard (“The Goldbergs”) as Alex, Iddo Goldberg (“Peaky Blinders”) as Ben, as well as Alison Wright (“Sneaky Pete”), Lena Hall, Mickey Sumner, Sam Otto, Shiela Vand, Mike O’Malley (“Heels”) and Jaylin Fletcher (“Clickbait”, “Law & Order: Organized Crime”).

It is uncertain whether Sean Bean (“Game of Thrones”) will return as Mr. Wilford, as the fate of his character is unknown. New cast members in season 4 are Clark Gregg (“Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD”) and Michael Aronov (“The Blacklist”). This is reported by the US magazine Deadline.

Snowpiercer Season 4: Production

In season 4, showrunner Paul Zbyszewski takes over the helm. Regarding AMC and AMC+’s acquisition of the series, Ben Davis, the network’s Executive VP of Original Programming, said:

Snowpiercer is a thrilling rollercoaster ride with a loyal fan base – similar to the passionate fan base we serve with our biggest franchises – and a welcome addition to AMC and AMC+. We look forward to giving viewers the opportunity to watch the first three seasons later this year before the remarkable fourth season, led by Paul Zbyszewski and a stellar cast, premieres in 2025.
