WhatsApp is going to implement a new feature that should relieve a lot of you.
Which ? A little hint: do you often make typos? Does seeing some of your posts with careless errors get on your nerves? Well, with the new option coming to WhatsApp, you won’t need to delete your messages anymore.
Message editing, finally!
This is an area where Telegram, still a bit at war with WhatsApp, can no longer claim to be better than its Meta competitor. Indeed, WhatsApp would be working on a feature that should appeal to as many people as possible: editing sent messages. This option was spotted by WABetinfo on the app beta for iOS 23.4.0.72.
The ability to edit is still in testing, but the source was able to access it, as you can see above. The user will thus be able to correct errors in his message rather than completely deleting it. And everyone knows what kind of incomprehension or frustration can generate in an interlocutor deleted messages that he could not see!
A feature and some limitations
While the arrival of this sent message editor is welcome, it has some limitations. Thus, as shown in the image above, it will be necessary to have the latest version of WhatsApp to be able to see a message whose content has been modified. Otherwise, a bubble inviting him to update the application will appear.
It is also not (yet?) possible to edit a communication containing a photo or video file. There, it will be necessary, if you really want to, to stay on the old manipulation which consists in deleting the message. But it would be surprising if WhatsApp did not think in the medium term to integrate this option.
Finally, it will be necessary to wait a little longer to find out if WhatsApp will allow you to see the original message edited by the sender. For the moment, this beta version concerns iOS. No information was given on a declination for Android.
