DECRYPTION – Health Insurance has started its “brick by brick” assessment of social fraud in France.
Medicare is finally beginning to estimate the extent of social fraud! A figure hitherto very difficult to obtain: the magistrate Charles Prats evaluates it at some 30 billion euros and accuses the government of laxity. The administrations (Pôle emploi, Urssaf, CAF, Health insurance) deny and consider the estimate unrealistic. Mandated by the executive to clarify the case, the Court of Auditors failed to decide.

Faced with pressure, Medicare got down to an assessment of fraud in its own field, that of health. A complex exercise because fraud is, by definition, hidden and above all multifaceted in health, where it can be the work of both policyholders and professionals in the city and at the hospital, relate both to benefits in kind and reimbursements in species.
