Socialist elected officials accuse the government of “legislating blindly”

The relationship between the Minister of Labor, Olivier Dussopt, with his former colleagues in the Socialist Party is not improving. After the reform of unemployment insurance in 2022 and that of pensions in the winter of 2022-2023, the “full employment” bill, the examination of which in the National Assembly began on Monday September 25, is once again a source of tension between left-wing deputies and the government.

The subject of criticism from elected officials of the New Ecological and Social Popular Union (Nupes) this time concerns the reform of the active solidarity income (RSA). In particular the sanction aspect of the text. The bill provides that RSA beneficiaries will be required to work hours within the framework of a “reciprocal commitment contract” and may have their allowance suspended in the event of failure.

The left, which criticizes these provisions, believes that the suspension, even temporary, of the payment of the RSA has only negative effects and has been demanding data from the government for several months on the subject. Because his colleague from Essonne Jérôme Guedj has obtained figures. Taking advantage of his status as co-president of the evaluation and control mission of Social Security financing laws, the latter asked, on September 21, the National Family Allowance Fund (CNAF) to provide him with data on the sanctions, which were communicated to him Monday evening.

Mr. Guedj was surprised that the results he obtained in a few days “have not been the subject of studies” from the government for a text “about which you say that the sanction will be the alpha and omega of the incentive to return to employment”. “We are in the process of legislating with a clarity and sincerity of debates which, once again, are totally absent”he added.

Several times questioned by Mr. Delaporte, Olivier Dussopt ended up responding to the deputy. “None of your attempts at intent, none of your anathemas, none of your invectives, none of your contemptuous words or none of your insults will mask your total lack of arguments”, he replied. Before rekindling memories of the pension reform: “Do you want to insult me, like six months ago? You can do it. »
