Choosing a colored car, a rather rare choice among French motorists, who mainly choose the winning trio “white, black, grey”. For the CarNext study, one in two respondents say that color is important, an even higher proportion among men.

It should be noted that 64% of Ile-de-France motorists attach importance to the color of their car when the inhabitants of Centre-Val-de-Loire are a majority not to pay attention to it.

Apart from white, black and grey, the top colors are blue (41%), red (30%) and green (8%). One in ten respondents opts for more discreet shades such as brown or purple. Colors that owners associate with well-known cars. The acclaimed color first is the mythical Ferrari red color, followed by the

emblematic blue of the Nissan Skyline GT-R of the various opuses of Fast and Furious, in front of the essential yellow of New York taxis.

Why choose a bright color?

According to Stan Deveaux, Managing Director of CarNext France, “We have found that a colored vehicle sells faster than a more classic color”. A statement that goes against an old belief to the contrary.

For half of those questioned, one chooses one’s favorite color, or that of the spouse. For 13% of motorists, it is above all a question of standing out, when 7% admit that the color was less expensive than a classic colour.

Who are the buyers of colored vehicles?

For 73% of respondents, the color of the vehicle is also a sign of independence. They consider “to make fun of the judgment of others”. For 41% of them, color is synonymous with elegance and almost half (48%) consider that the color of their car will be an asset for resale.
