Jan. 6 (Reuters) – Sodexo on Thursday announced organic revenue growth of 17.5% in the first quarter of its 2021-2022 fiscal year, with the reopening of schools and universities following the easing of fight against the COVID-19 epidemic.

The catering group reported a turnover of 5.26 billion euros over the period September-November, a figure slightly higher than the 5.24 billion expected by analysts according to a consensus provided by the company .

Sodexo considers it premature to assess the possible impact on its activity of the spread of the Omicron variant of the highly contagious coronavirus, and of the measures taken by the authorities to try to stop this new wave of the pandemic.

“At this point, we are maintaining our annual forecasts and remain confident in the continuation of the recovery,” said Sophie Bellon, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Interim CEO of Sodexo, in a statement.
