The family of cocaine godmother Griselda Blanco, who was killed in 2012, is suing actress Sofia Vergara, according to a media report.

Sofia Vergara (51) probably didn’t expect this when she signed the contract to take on the role of Griselda Blanco for Netflix. According to a media report, the family of the cocaine patron who was shot in 2012 is suing the streaming service. And Vergara is also listed as a defendant in court documents, the “TMZ” should be available.

Why was the lawsuit filed?

The new miniseries “Griselda,” in which Vergara not only stars but also serves as executive producer, is scheduled to appear on the streaming service on January 25th. However, according to an article in the US celebrity portal, Blanco’s children want to prevent publication. The family applied to court for an interim injunction.

One of Blanco’s sons claims that he has been conducting interviews for many years with several people who wanted to try to tell his life story and that of his mother in a book and in a series. There were supposedly discussions with Netflix and the streaming service was interested, but those responsible did not want to use any of its details. However, he has now learned that the new mini-series is based on many of his anecdotes – and he didn’t get any money for it. Netflix copied the family story and so he and his siblings sued. It would also allegedly violate the rights of Blanco’s children if they were depicted as characters in the miniseries without permission.

That’s what “Griselda” is about

Netflix describes the production as a “fictional drama series” based on the life of “the shrewd and ambitious Griselda Blanco, who built one of the most powerful cartels of all time.” “Her unexpected brutality, coupled with her charm, proves to be a deadly mixture in Miami in the 1970s and 1980s […]”. Among others, Alberto Guerra (42), Christian Tappan (51), Juliana Aidén Martinez, Vanessa Ferlito and the singer Karol G (32) can be seen alongside Vergara in the six-part miniseries.
