Software problem – Tesla million dollar recall due to autopilot and doors

Tesla has to “recall” millions of cars again. This time it’s about more than one and a half million vehicles in China. According to a statement from the country’s responsible regulatory authority, there are problems with the driver assistance system and with the door closing in some vehicles.

The defects could lead to safety risks while driving and increase the risk of a vehicle collision, the authority warned and asked drivers to drive carefully. Specifically affected are 1.61 million imported electric cars of the Model S, Model X and Model 3 types as well as in China-made Model 3 and Model Y vehicles with a production date between August 2014 and December 2023. In addition, there are just over 7,500 imported Model S and Model X vehicles manufactured between October 26, 2022 and November 16, 2023 were produced, there was a problem with the door lock control. The recalled cars are now receiving a software update. Since this can be done “over the air” at Tesla, no customer has to go to the workshop for it. In December, Tesla had already recalled around two million cars in the USA – also because of problems with the driving assistant for automated driving. China is a problem for Tesla important market with a growing number of customers. The US company also has a large production factory in Shanghai, where 900,000 vehicles were manufactured last year.
