Solana Saga: a smartphone designed and designed for Web3

Solana Labs, known for the Solana blockchain and associated cryptocurrency, wants to enter the mobile industry to accelerate the development of Web3-related applications.

It’s hard to find anything to shiver in a mobile ecosystem where real innovations are rare. And it may be a company specializing in blockchain that could move the lines slightly. On Thursday June 23, 2022, Solana Labs, the company that manages the Solana blockchain and cryptocurrency, announced the launch of a smartphone designed to accommodate Web3 technologies and native applications for cryptonauts.

“The only companies with the resources to deliver the mobile future we all dream of, Apple and Google, had no update to give on their crypto roadmap.explains Solana in a blog post. It’s time for Web3 developers to start building for mobile rather than around it. The obstacles to achieving this goal are clear: Google’s and Apple’s app store policies have not evolved for Web3. Conservation solutions on phones did not materialize. Software and hardware have not been integrated natively.”

Solana wants to launch its own smartphone from 2023. Called Solana Saga, the mobile should have a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, a 6.67-inch Oled screen, 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. A hardware resolutely high-end, therefore. Most importantly, the Solana Mobile Stack (SMS), a development kit for developers, was introduced. It should soon allow the development and integration of features such as Solana Pay, a payment solution, a decentralized mobile app store, a crypto storage service or a cryptocurrency wallet specially designed for mobile.

“I’m more excited about this than anything we’ve done since launching Solana.enthused Anatoly Yakovenko, boss of Solana. Now I can’t predict what will be built in the next few years, but I know it’s a step we felt compelled to take.”.
