The advent of photovoltaic installations and domestic charging stations is accompanied by a need for connectivity in areas of the home that often lack it. Fortunately, there is a simple and affordable solution to this.

You may be one of the many French people who are considering purchasing an electric car and/or installing photovoltaic panels in order to reduce their energy costs and adopt a mode of travel better suited to environmental issues. .

Whether it is a domestic charging station or solar panels connected to an inverter, in most cases this equipment requires an Internet connection to enable remote control. Problem is, they are very often installed in areas of the home where the Internet connection, whether wired or Wi-Fi, is not available: basement, garage, attic, outdoor carport, etc.

A network connection is essential to control your energy management remotely

The CPL solution has been known for a long time. It allows you to extend an Internet connection to an entire home or building without being limited by walls or the distance from the connection point (Internet box or router). Devolo Powerline adapters are the missing link in new forms of energy management. They can extend the network over long distances, up to 500 meters (for the devolo Magic 2). Providing connectivity to the charging station of your electric car, to the inverter or the storage solution of your photovoltaic panels means being able to finely control these systems by combining them to exploit their full energy saving potential.

The great advantage of devolo Magic solutions lies in their simplicity. No need to modify existing Internet installation. Simply plug the adapter into a power outlet close to the Internet box then connect the two devices with the Ethernet cable provided. Each power outlet then becomes a potential network outlet into which you can plug a Magic adapter which, depending on the model, makes the high-speed Internet connection accessible either by Wi-Fi or wired with an Ethernet cable. Enough to ensure solid internet coverage in every space of the home.

In addition, Magic adapters feature 128-bit AES encryption and automatically exchange a random password when first connected to your electrical outlets. Even if it is extended outside to a charging station, network security is perfectly ensured.

Easy-to-install Wi-Fi or LAN powerline kits

If you want to extend your Internet connection via Wi-Fi, the devolo Magic 1 Wi-Fi mini Starter kit includes the basic CPL box to associate with the box and an adapter that you can plug into any electrical outlet in any room. The association is done automatically. The adapter broadcasts the Wi-Fi connection and has a Fast Ethernet port (10/100 Mbits/s) which allows you to connect the charging station or the wired inverter if necessary.

If you don’t necessarily need to extend your Wi-Fi, but need a solid wired connection to a specific point, the devolo Magic 1 LAN Starter Kit offers transmission speeds of up to 1200 Mbps.

Finally, devolo also offers the Magic 2 LAN DINrail, an adapter to be installed directly in the electrical cabinet which acts as a central node of the network which sends the Internet signal to each socket with additional speed. Thanks to this performance gain, Magic adapters plugged into power outlets can reach a maximum data transmission speed of 2,400 Mbps. It is THE ideal solution when building a new house or renovating an existing electrical system.
