There are more interested parties for Tesla’s solar roof than there are capacities. Tesla faces difficulties. But version 3.5 of the Solar Roof is already in the test phase.

Costs 30,000 euros, lasts for 30 years: Tesla brought the “Solarglass” to this simple formula at the initial presentation. That was in 2019. In the years that followed, things didn’t get very quiet about the innovation.
The manufacturer presented other variants of the solar roof, which should also be available in Germany, but is still not available in this country. In general, it is unclear how many such roofs are in use worldwide. US users, on the other hand, proudly posted their bills online, in which the costs of such a power-generating roof were explicitly listed. In the meantime, Tesla also presented a solar trailer to extend the range of electric cars.
Then in the spring of 2022 there will be a temporary stop. Tesla could no longer provide supplies. The worldwide delivery bottlenecks, which also affected the production of the Cybertruck, called for a forced break. The US portal Electrek is now not only reporting on the resumption of solar roof production from the fourth quarter, but also on a new version of the solar roof that is already being tested on the houses of some Tesla employees.
However, it remains unclear how the new version of the power roof tile differs from its predecessors. Electrek speculates on easier installation and improved durability. The manufacturer has often advertised the robustness of the solar roof tiles and shingles in social media, for example in connection with hailstones.
When the Tesla Solar Roof v3.5 will be available is also still unclear. The manufacturer will probably present it in the fourth quarter. Tesla also indirectly announced availability in Germany, and there were even prices – but the roof cannot be ordered in this country to this day. An alternative to the Tesla product are nailable solar roof shingles or wind trees for alternative power supply.
