Somali: over 800,000 people have fled the drought

(dpa) According to UN figures, 805,000 people had already fled their villages in Somalia by the end of May after the persistent drought. More than 33,000 new drought refugees were registered in May, the UN Emergency Relief Office (Ocha) in Somalia reported on Sunday. That is an increase of 28 percent compared to April. The escape process began in January 2021.
