Christian Estrosi expressed, this Thursday, his indignation after the odious song sung by the Nice supporters the day before around the death of Emiliano Sala.
The mayor of Nice reacted by posting a message on his Twitter account to denounce the words of certain members of the Popular South tribune who attacked, during their team’s victory against Saint-Etienne (3-2), at the memory of the Argentinian striker, who tragically disappeared in the accident of his plane which transported him to Cardiff in January 2019.

The supporters in question had hijacked words usually used by Nantes supporters to the glory of the Argentine striker. “He’s an Argentinian, who doesn’t swim well, Emiliano underwater,” they said.
The chosen one also asked to pay tribute to Emiliano Sala during the match against Lille on Saturday, during the 37and Ligue 1 day in order to make up for the sad behavior of some. “I propose that in the 9th minute of the match against Lille this Saturday at the @AllianzRiviera, the portrait of Emiliano Sala is displayed on the screens of the stadium and that applause is launched”, he proposed.

OGC Nice, which lost the Coupe de France final against Nantes a few days earlier, issued a press release after the match to “condemn in the strongest terms the song concerning Emiliano Sala heard on Wednesday evening at the Allianz Riviera”. “The club in no way recognizes its values or those of the entire red and black family in this unthinkable and abject provocation of a minority of its supporters, had assured the club. OGC Nice sends its support to the family and loved ones of Emiliano Sala.”
