Sonia Rolland (Criminal Tropics) will direct her first TV movie for France 2

Currently in the credits of season 3 of “Criminal Tropics”, the ex-Miss France Sonia Rolland is preparing to make her first TV movie, entitled “A destiny”, which is inspired by her own story.

In parallel with her role as a cop in the Tropiquescriminales series, Sonia Rolland is preparing to put on a new hat by directing her first TV movie for France Télévisions.

While season 3 of Criminal Tropics, in which she portrays Commander Mélissa Sainte-Rose alongside Béatrice de La Boulaye, is a hit every Friday evening on France 2, the actress will begin filming the unit Un destin on Monday, whose the screenplay is very inspired by his personal journey according to information from our colleagues from French Film.

Sonia Rolland is not at her debut behind the camera, since she has already signed several documentaries, including Rwanda, from chaos to miracle and Woman from Rwanda. But this is the first time that she has made a fiction.

Co-written with Fadette Drouard, Un destin tells the story of Nadia, an 18-year-old mixed-race girl of Rwandan origin, who lives with her family in a working-class housing estate in a small town in New Aquitaine.

Rejected from a possible career as a basketball player for her bad temper, she is pushed by her father and his friends to register for the Miss Poitou-Charentes competition. Without believing it, she passes the first stage, en route to an unexpected destiny, provided that she manages to tame her rebellious temperament, without denying herself.

To interpret the role of Nadia, Sonia Rolland chose the young actress Esther Rollande, discovered at the beginning of the year in the film The Best, in which she shared the poster with Lina El Arabi. While the rest of the cast of the TV movie will include Clémentine Célarié, Thierry Godard and Mata Gabin.

The filming of Un destin, produced by Mother Production and So Mad Productions, will take place from October 31 to December 2 between Charente, Reunion Island and Île-de-France. For a broadcast undoubtedly scheduled for current 2023 on France 2.
