Sonic Frontiers will not be postponed, Sega confirms it once again

The end of the year is approaching, and postponements to 2023 have been linked in recent days. And given that Sonic Frontiers is due out this year, but hasn’t given a specific date, some are concerned that the game will also be pushed back to next year. This forces Sega to speak again on the occasion of its financial report for the first quarter of the current fiscal year, reported by VGC.

A release at the end of the year still planned

Sega Vice President Koichi Fukazawa and Executive Vice President Makoto Takahashi answered questions during the latest review, particularly around the release of Sonic Frontiers. Although there is no specific date, no postponement would be planned for the moment :

We do not plan to postpone the launch at this stage […] The Sonic license is a flagship license that we will sell long-term in the future, and we will also continue to strengthen it in the next fiscal year. We have high expectations for Sonic Frontiers, the flagship title slated to launch this winter. »

The mention of this winter therefore indicates a release rather in December (it does not necessarily mean that it will be released only after December 22), which sticks to the latest leak, which indicated that the title was planned for December 3. We will certainly know more very soon, since the game will be present during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live.

Sonic Frontiers is slated for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Switch.
