Sonja Kirchberger glows with happiness when GALA meets her in Palma. There are many reasons for this. However, one of them surprises.

Described as a “treat”. Sonja Kirchberger, 58, her role in the RTL series “The King of Palma”. Because she is “small and fine”, but also because she was able to shoot in her home country. The actress has been living in Mallorca for 23 years. Her favorite place: her own farm in the middle of the island, there are 300 olive trees and the chickens are delighted with the scent of lavender. “My paradise,” says Kirchberger.

Sonja Kirchberger: She lives on Mallorca – and created her little paradise there

GALA: Things are very different at Ballermann, have you ever been there?
Sonja Kirchberger: Never in my life. But when I in Palma lived, that was my bike route in winter. The beach is beautiful. But I celebrate differently. I party to laugh and dance the night away, not to numb myself. Many people at Ballermann, not all, want to take a vacation from themselves. It’s a different world, but I want to understand it.

But then you have to go there.
Yes, unrecognized with a large troupe, I would like to watch it.

You are an actress and a farmer, you had a restaurant and you work as a life coach. What drives you?
I am very curious. Curiosity keeps me awake because I like to find new questions, not necessarily answers. We have to get out of the comfort zone and not be afraid of further development.

They appear calm and relaxed. How does that fit in?
I have a ritual I wake up every morning and say, “Thank you for that
I can wake up in this healthy body”. With this healthy body, I can do anything – whether it’s a dishwasher or an actress. That’s my little life. I design it how I want and I want to experiment with it. That makes me happy.

Doesn’t it bother you that you’re separated from your partner when you’re filming the ZDF series “Die Bergretter”?
No, I hike a lot in Austria, I am connected to nature and I take a lot of books with me. I really enjoy just being with myself, even if I miss my husband. Sometimes I fly home for the night, or he comes to my place.

“Despite the distance, we are very close”

Is distance good for your relationship?
No, we can also be together 24 hours a day for seven days and don’t feel tight. We have a similar energy. We are curious about life. You have to be able to celebrate others, give them space. My husband doesn’t belong to me. Nothing belongs to me, not even my children. Despite the distance, we are very close, and we can also be very close when we are very close. Our everyday life is such that my husband works all day on the olive trees and I in the vegetable garden. Nature is our Zen master. We need the silence; no sounds, no information. That is beautiful.

Have you searched and found yourself?
We didn’t look for each other, that’s why we found each other. That is an important point. The partner is not there to make you happier or more feminine or to fill any deficits.

They always say my man…
It feels like he is. I’ve always said it like that because that’s how I feel. The belonging you feel is much more important than a piece of paper.

But a wedding is not out of the question?
We never had and never have had that as an issue, but I don’t mind either. I love being invited to weddings. I am touched and probably the one who sheds the most tears. That’s a great act.

I can’t believe you’ll be 60 next year.
Yes! I’m so happy. I always have to stop myself and say to myself: Sonja, you’ll be 59 in November, but I’m so excited. Turning sixty, being healthy and vital, I feel like I won the lottery.
