The company’s results for its third fiscal quarter are not good and Sonos prefers to postpone the launch of its subwoofer at the end of this year.

The global economic crisis has spared no tech player, and today it is Sonos that has to face lower than expected results.

Sonos does not avoid the global economic crisis

The American company announced its results for its third fiscal quarter of 2022, which corresponds to the second quarter of the calendar year, and its sales are slightly below analysts’ and investors’ expectations.

If sales fell only 1.8% to $ 371.8 million, Sonos recorded a net loss of $ 597 million in this quarter.

To explain these falling figures, Sonos points to the immediate effects of inflation among consumers but also to a very subdued demand for its entry-level soundbar, the Sonos Ray, and an overall slowdown in the television market which penalizes sales of its home cinema range.

A delayed launch at the end of this year for the Sonos Sub Mini

Uncertainty hangs over the next few months and this is how Sonos has announced that it wants to delay the launch of its next product, which is none other than the Sonos Sub Mini. This new subwoofer, more affordable than the Sonos Sub, was unveiled a few weeks ago by several leaks, including a 3D rendering of the product made by the media The Verge.

Its presentation was originally scheduled for September 2022, but Sonos has indicated that the launch of this new product will not take place before the brand’s first fiscal quarter of 2023, i.e. an estimated shooting window between October and December 2022 just before the Christmas and New Year.

Despite this difficult period, Sonos still confirms its intention to launch two new products each year. The brand remains positive for the future, hoping for better days for its Sonos Ray which has received a good critical reception (especially in our columns) and whose larger sales would be an ideal launch pad for the Sonos Sub Mini.
