Sony brings together Crunchyroll and Wakanim anime offerings under one roof

The time has finally come, Crunchyroll and Wakanim are becoming one steaming offer. From now on you will find all your favorite anime series in one place. You can read what that means for you here.

  • Crunchyroll becomes the world’s largest provider of anime series.
  • Large parts of the Waknim and Animax Plus catalog have been available from the provider since March 1st, 2022.

So far, anime fans in Germany have not always found it easy to watch their favorite series. One subscription to Crunchyroll, one to Wakanim, and another to Animax Plus and Netflix. But that will change in the future.

On March 01, 2022, Sony announced that all existing anime streaming offerings under the Crunchyroll brand. This is the next step after the offer of the streaming provider Anime on Demand became part of the Crunchyroll catalog in September 2021. Anime on Demand ceased service in December 2021.

The implementation of a only, world’s largest anime offer is almost complete. In August 2021, AT&T was acquired by Funimation, a joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Aniplex, a subsidiary of the Japanese company Sony Music Entertainment. What does the merger mean for you?

Alternatively, Netflix offers you Anime Originals, which you will still be looking for in vain on Crunchyroll.
