Sony Interactive Entertainment and Ballistic Moon: a partnership discovered before time

Information of a normally confidential nature since this British studio founded in 2019 only indicates that it is working on a game with a world-class publisher. The gaffe comes from a comedian’s resume who credits “Ballistic Moon & Sony Interactive Entertainment” to his employers. The comedian, who donned the motion capture outfit for two of the game’s characters, also reveals the codename “Project Bates” and the name of motion capture director Joshua Archer, previously credited on games like Until Dawn, Horizon Zero Dawn and Just Cause 4.

On its site, Ballistic Moon says it was founded in August 2019 by creative director Neil McEwan, chief technology officer Chris Lamb and production manager Duncan Kershaw. The former is the director of Syndicate and Bravo Team as well as the producer of The House of the Dead: Overkill. The second worked on Until Dawn, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and Bravo Team. The latter has worked on many projects since the 80s at Sega, THQ, Electronic Arts, Square Enix and Virtuos.

The project is in development on the Unreal Engine 5 engine. Its code name, some tweets from the studio and the presence of former Supermassive Games in the team are elements that could make you think of a horror game, but nothing lets be affirmatic about the gender of the project at this point.
