Sony has recently caused uncertainty among the media, mainly due to their weak presence at important events like IFA 2023 and CES 2024. At IFA they were completely absent, and at CES they did not have presented no new televisions.

At a meeting in Japan ahead of CES 2024, Sony spoke with journalists from around the world. They haven’t made an official statement, but have spoken about their continued interest in Mini LED technology. This has led some to believe that Sony might abandon OLED.

The Mini LED, the Oled…

However, Sony contacted us to clarify their position: they are not abandoning Oled. They highlighted their commitment to this technology, citing their A95L model, which has a QD-OLED panel.

This model was very appreciated, even being named best television of 2023 by Frandroid. Sony has yet to announce its new product line, thus keeping some mystery about its future plans.

We recently launched a flagship product, the A95L with a QD-OLED panel, and we have not yet made any announcements regarding our future product line. We provide an overview of some prototype technologies, including mini LED which we believe will play an important role in consumer TVs, and we make no commitment to any single display technology.

We don’t learn much new in this declaration, we will have to wait between March and April to discover the new 2024 range, and the place of Mini LED and Oled in it.
