Sony refunds some players who purchased The Last of Us Part II Remastered at full price on PS5

While The Last of Us Part II Remastered is available for only 10 euros for owners of the PS4 version of the game, some players were clearly unaware. Sony will therefore reimburse them automatically.

Today marks the release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered, the native and remastered version of the second opus of the Naughty Dog saga on PS5. The studio confirmed at the start of the year that the game would be available for around ten euros to owners of the first game on PS4, whether the physical or digital version.

And obviously, Sony seems to want to prevent the players concerned from spending too much of their money if we are to believe the message sent to some of them yesterday.

Sony reimburses players who paid full price

This week, players who pre-ordered the game at the full price of 49.99 euros received a message from Sony telling them that their purchase would be refunded. The reason ? They already had the PS4 version of the game on their account and could therefore obtain The Last of Us Part II Remastered for only 10 euros.

This is a rare enough act to be noted and absolutely not obligatory for Sony, which at the same time protects itself from countless reimbursement requests that its customer service may have received in the coming days.

For comparison, a game like Hogwart’s Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy does not offer any such update, because it is necessary to purchase the Deluxe Edition at 84.99 euros to hope to play it on PS4 and PS5.

Reminder of the update process

If you own the PS4 version of The Last of Us Part IIthen the procedure to follow is ultimately very simple:

  • For the digital version of the game: simply go to the game page on the PlayStation Store to pay 10 euros for the update
  • For the boxed version of the game: insert the disc from the PS4 version of the game into your PS5 to get the remastered version. The disk will be required to play the game even after the update.

Note that it is also possible to transfer your PS4 saves to the PS5 version, either via your PlayStation account or via a USB key.
