Sony unveils technical specifications for PlayStation VR2 and PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers

The new generation headset, whose appearance has not been revealed, will therefore simply be marketed under the name PlayStation VR2, while its controllers adopt the name of PlayStation VR2 Sense. As previously announced, this headset has not chosen the wireless route which has been so successful in Quest and will be connected to the PS5 by a single USB Type-C cable, which will greatly change the complex installation of the PS VR of 2016. No external camera will also be necessary thanks to the monitoring inside-out.

This connection is also an important factor for the technical power of the headset, which claims a 4K HDR OLED screen and makes a big leap forward compared to the PS VR with its resolution of 2000 x 2040 per eye (against 960 x 1080 per eye) , its field of view of 110 degrees (against 96 °), its frequency of 120 Hz and its foveal rendering technology which allows the helmet to optimize the quality of the image at the place where the gaze of the user. The manufacturer’s communication strongly emphasizes the new sensory functions of the helmet and its levers, without forgetting to confirm the monitoring of the user’s eyes.

Remember, this is just a preview of what to expect“Says Hideaki Nishino of Sony Interactive Entertainment, recalling that the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers have also inherited the haptic features and adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller. For the time being, we do not yet know when and at what price the manufacturer intends to market its new device, the haste is probably not in a context where the production lines are still idling because of the shortage of certain components.
