A remake of “The Black Fortress” by Greg Nicotero of “The Walking Dead”? This is announced by the author of the book, F. Paul Wilson, in person!
Based on a novel by F. Paul Wilson, The Black Fortress (The Keep in VO) tells the story of a group of Nazis, during World War II, forced to turn to a Jewish historian for help. in the fight against an ancient demon they inadvertently freed from its prison.
As reported by the news site JoBlo.com, after the adaptation of Michael Mann in 1983, it therefore seems that the horror fantasy novel will be entitled to a second wind on the big screen and it is its author in person who announced it on Twitter.
“2 days ago, after a year and a half of litigation between the “buyer” and my part at ICM, I signed an option/purchase agreement with Greg Nicotero for the remake of The Keep. Greg is a longtime fan of the book, and he has the shoulders to make a worthy adaptation.”
And it is therefore Greg Nicotero who will take care of it! The co-founder of KNB EFX Group, who has handled special make-up effects for hundreds of films and series, is of course known for his work on The Walking Dead. Also executive producer of AMC’s flagship show, he directed nearly forty of its episodes over its eleven seasons.
Greg Nicotero made his debut as a special effects makeup artist in George A. Romero’s Day of the Living Dead (1985), under the tutelage of Romero and makeup effects veteran Tom Savini.
THE IMPERFECT BUT CULT ORIGINAL FILM
The 1983 feature film, which starred Scott Glenn, Ian McKellen, Alberta Watson, Gabriel Byrne and Jürgen Prochnow, among others, is known for having a troubled production and for unfortunately suffering brutal editing cuts, against the will. by Michael Mann, in order to reduce its length to 96 minutes. The rushed post-production process then resulted in plot holes and resulted in jerky editing and even unfinished sound editing.
