Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max platform (formerly HBO Max) will arrive in Europe on May 21 and in France before the start of the Paris Olympic Games.
SVoD services in France will face a new competitor. After Netflix, Disney+ or Amazon Prime Video, it is the turn of Max – ex-HBO Max – to prepare for its arrival in Europe.
As we can read on Release, the Max platform will arrive in Europe from May 21. The daily quotes Jean-Briac Perrette, boss of Warner Bros Discovery Networks International (DNI), who announced the news on the sidelines of a professional festival in Lille.
In Europe from May 21, a little later in France
The first European countries affected from May 21 will be Spain, Portugal, and the Nordic and Central European states. In France, the launch of Max will take place “ before the Olympic Games» which start on July 26.
As for subscriptions, opt for the classic formula with a basic offer displaying advertisements, a standard one and a premium one. A sports option will be available at an additional cost.
In his catalog, Max has works that could cause concern about the content offered on SVoD platforms already present in France. What about the Warner pass on Prime Video?
In France, Amazon’s Prime Video platform offers a Warner pass to enjoy HBO content. But with the arrival of Max, the existence of this offer is called into question. Warner Bros. will prefera priorioffer its films and series on its own platform.
It is therefore especially Amazon which may be worried about the arrival of this new competitor.
