Google is preparing to deploy its Circle to Search feature on January 31. As its name suggests, this will allow you to launch a search simply by drawing a circle on the screen. A feature that will also be available on the Galaxy S24.
While browsing the web or social networks from our smartphone, we sometimes want to launch a search directly from what is on our screen. Rather than copying a piece of text then pasting it into Google, or describing an image that appears in our news feed to find it, it would be infinitely simpler to be able to launch a search simply by clicking on the element in question .
Good news: this will soon be possible. Of course, it’s Google’s side that we’ll have to take a look at. The firm had already taken a first step in this direction with Lens, its tool capable of analyzing an image and generating results linked to its content. But a new feature will this time go much further. Called Circle to Search, this will be able to isolate a specific element on your screen to launch a Google search.

It’s difficult to make it more explicit than its name. Just watch the latest video posted by Mishaal Rahman on his X (Twitter) account to see that the feature does precisely what its name suggests. By remaining pressed on the screen, it launches gesture detection by Google. He can then click on an image, which launches a search for similar images.
But perhaps the most impressive thing comes when he draws a circle around his bio on X, which then launches a Google search including the exact words contained in the latter. Just like Lens, Circle to Search is then able to decipher the words displayed on the screen to transcribe them into text on Google. The feature, which will be available on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro from January 31, therefore promises to save precious time for all users hungry for information.
It is interesting to note that if Google will surely have the first of this functionality, it should not take long to be joined by Samsung, whose rumors announce that its Galaxy S24 will certainly integrate a similar tool.
