Emblematic host of France 2where she has worked since 1989, Sophie Davant grew up far from the spotlight, in Cestas, in the Landes region of Bordeaux. Coming from a family of scientists, the one who made her debut on television presenting the weather was not predestined for such a career! Ornithologist, professor of biology and researcher at the marine biology institute of Arcachon, his father Pierre Davant was one of the founders of the Society for the study, protection and development of nature in the South-West (Sepanso) and the Banc d’Arguant national reserve, on the Arcachon basin. His mother Nicole Davant – died of breast cancer in 1983 at age 44 – was doing research in the field of cell biology. Very early on, the 60-year-old presenter took an interest in her parents’ professions and even worked as a guard in the Banc d’Arguin nature reserve, which remains for her one of the “most beautiful memories” of his life.

A little later, the former host ofDeal done told a funny anecdote… “There was a photo exhibition in the cabin and one day, in September 1981, I saw a gentleman arrive in a pink swimsuit who said to me ‘hello mademoiselle’… It was Valéry Giscard from Estaing who was in a swimsuit!”she exclaimed, before slipping: “I showed him around the exhibition, I mainly ran to pick up my father. But hey, they were all furious with him because he was going hunting in Africa at the time, in hunts that were not really recommended…”
